Write Guest Posts for Emmett’s Expeditions

Thank you for wanting to guest write on Emmett’s Expeditions!

What to Write

Hi! I’m Ashley! The adventurous homeschool mama of Emmett. The Emmett’s Expeditions blog is for all types of homeschool families. Our writers cover topics about childhood adventures, learning activities, motherhood, and the daily life of homeschoolers. I especially love UNIQUE (never been published) blog posts about:

+ DIY homeschooling activities
+ Tips for exploring with kids
+ Traveling homeschool tips
+ Ideas for unschooling
+ Personal stories of being a homeschool mom (homeschool dad’s are awesome too!)

But, any blog post idea that is helpful for homeschoolers is welcomed.
Note: not all blog post ideas will be approved.

What Writers Get

Our writers put a lot of thought and time into their guest posts. I’d like to make sure you get as much out of the post as you put into it. What you get when you guest post on Emmett’s Expeditions:

+ An author bio promoting your blog and social media profiles
+ The chance to be featured on our contributor page if you guest post at least 2 times
+ Promotion on our social media profiles
+ A brand new audience for your blog
+ A community filled with homeschool moms just like you
+ Support from other homeschoolers

Guest Post Guidelines

All guest posts should be at least 1,000 words. We want your work to be worth the time and effort you put into it. Writing a post that is 1k+ words will make it score higher in search engines and provide more quality content for our readers. Starting with an outline of subtopics is a great way to pack in the info you need. Then growing each section is easier to focus your writing on while also making it easier for readers to enjoy.

Keyword Titles. Each guest post should have a unique keyword in the title that describes your post. Mention your keyword in about 10% of your post as well as in the heading and first subheading.

Use headings and subheadings. Headings and subheadings are important for SEO. Search engines use them when looking for the relevancy of your article. H1 and H2 are the priority heading and subheading. Only use them once each per guest post. They keyword should also be within that line. For the rest of your subheadings use H3 and H4. If you have any trouble with this, I can adjust the formatting during editing.

No affiliate links. Readers at Emmett’s Expeditions expect links to take them to other blogs, further reading material, freebies, or the blog’s shop. We don’t want to break their trust by loading the blog up with other marketing.

Write Secular. Emmett has God in his life. However he is also taught to respect other’s beliefs. Emmett’s Expeditions reflects that by keeping religion out of the conversation. You don’t need to be a secular homeschooler to write at Emmett’s Expeditions. However, I do ask that you keep your religious beliefs out of your guest post.

No Foul Language. This is a kid friendly space. If you absolutely need to use an expletive, get creative. Phrases like “sucks wax fruit”, “tarter sauce!”, and “oh, fudge sickles”, are perfectly acceptable 😉

How Do I Submit An Idea?

Please email me ( ashley@emmettsexpeditions.com ) with your blog post ideas. 🙂 If approved, I will give you access to the WordPress dashboard of Emmett’s Expeditions. You will get a user profile and your own password to login. Then you can paste your post, or write your post, within the dashboard of the Emmett’s Expeditions blog. If you’d like to contribute again, simply login and provide another post for review. Depending on the amount of submissions, your post will be published within 2 to 6 weeks.

What Happens After I Guest Post?

When your blog post is published on Emmett’s Expeditions, share it on your social media profiles. This will help you grow your brand, audience, and traffic as well as your credibility the homeschool community. I will also promote your post on my social media profiles. Please DO NOT copy your blog post and publish it on your blog or another blog. You retain all rights to your content, but if you decide to publish it on another website, I will unfortunately have to unpublish it from my site. This is to avoid having duplicate content out there that can confuse search engines and benefit neither blog.
If you enjoy guest posting on Emmett’s Expeditions, I would love it if you guest posted again. After you guest post at least 2 times, I’ll add you to our contributor page!

Share your advice, tips, and inspiration with other homeschoolers!

Ashley
