Back to Homeschool: ID Cards, Portfolios, and More
With a new school year approaching, it's time for homeschoolers to update their home educator and student ID cards. Homeschool IDs are great for getting discounts at museums, workshops, classes, and local stores. So you'll definitely want your ID card in time for back to school shopping. From now until August 1st, I'll be creating custom homeschool IDs and getting them printed on cotton rag paper.
Today I'll be sharing:

Paper or Plastic?
There are other places you can get homeschool ID cards made. You can download them, print them at home, and laminate them in plastic. Or you can even have them printed on PVC plastic cards (like a credit card). There are a couple reasons why you should avoid these plastic options:
1. Plastic Laminate Sheets or Plastic Cards are harmful for the environment.
2. You'll need new ID cards next school year.
3. They typically can't be customized, only personalized. You can't choose your school colors or get a school logo.
Why you should get cotton rag cards for your homeschool IDs:
1. The "paper" of these cards is made from t-shirt fashion industry offcuts. So they are already helping the environment by keeping fiber out of landfills.
2. Scrapbooking! When the school year is over, you can easily paste, tape, or stitch your cards into a yearbook, portfolio, smash book, or any other book you use to remember your school year.
3. These ID cards are completely customizable. You choose what info you'd like on the card. You choose the colors. You approve the logo.
How to Get Your Custom Homeschool ID Cards
If we know anything, it's every homeschool family is different. And everyone knows homeschoolers have the BEST school spirit. Each homeschool should have their own custom homeschool ID cards. Head on over to Emmett's Expeditions after you have taken your class photos, named your homeschool, and chosen your school colors. Once you've purchased the Custom Earth-Friendly Homeschool ID Cards I'll email you to get all the info and pictures I need for your card design.
What is on The Back of the ID?
The back of each card shows an icon illustrating its earth friendly features along with my website link. It also has plenty of white space it there is anything else you'd to add to it such as food allergies, an emergency contact, or a membership sticker.
Where to Use Your Homeschool ID Cards
There are lots of locations that accept home educator IDs to get teacher discounts. One of my personal favorites is the book store. Check out The Complete List of Teacher Discounts to discover many more places to shop for discounts with your new homeschool ID cards.
Homeschool Portfolios and More
Another way to celebrate going back to homeschool is with new student portfolio covers, and t-shirts for the whole family. Emmett's portfolio cover displays his "new school year" photo, name, school name, school year, and logomark. Our t-shirts have the homeschool logo on the back. They are perfect for family or co-op field trips. Another way to use your new logo is embroidered patches! A couple years ago I made patches for our homeschool nature study club. They turned out great! The kids could put them on jackets or field bags. Of course, I've always been a fan of embroidered patches. But maybe that's just me.
