  • This Week is Homeschool Spirit Week!
.
DRESS UP. TAKE PICTURES. HAVE FUN.
.
Homeschool Spirit Week is a week of creativity and fun. Homeschoolers are invited to dress up and do projects related to that day's theme. Below are the themes Emmett chose for this year. Feel free to use these or have fun making your own themed days.
.
DAILY THEMES .
Monday - Lookalike Day:
Outfits that match. Wear the same outfit in different colors, wear the same colors with different outfits, or dress exactly alike!
.
Tuesday - Safari Day:
Dress as an animal or explorer on safari. Be creative with hats, vests, and other clothes you already have or wear a costume.
.
Wednesday - Out of This World Day:
Become an astronaut, alien, or character from a fictional world for the day. Think out of the box but don't float away!
.
Thursday - Fandom Day:
Join the world of your fandom. Dress up in outfits patterned with your favorite story or cosplay as your favorite character.
.
Friday - Spirit Day:
Wear a homeschool quote shirt or make a t-shirt featuring your homeschool name. Then, go on a family adventure during school hours to show your Homeschool Spirit!
  • On our latest outdoor adventure we spotted this lovely dragonfly. It also happened to be right next to some trash which Emmett, without my prompting, put on his gloves and put it in our handy adventure trash bag. #proudmommymomment #cleaninguptheplanet
  • What was your homeschool’s highlight of the day?
.
We had our Homeschool Curriculum Unboxing Day! Today was Emmett’s first day of 4th grade. His favorite part was taking photos and creating his own comics.
  • What are some of your favorite Homeschool Traditions?
.
One of our favorite traditions is Emmett’s Homeschool Interview featuring where he is at, his current favorites, and what he wants to be when he gets older.
  • I’m excited for this year’s batch of homeschool ID cards. Every year, I design Home Educator and Homeschool Student ID cards for the local homeschool group and other homeschoolers. If you’d like to join in for this round, visit my design account @logodentity for details.
  • When do your kids go back to school?
.
Emmett’s new homeschool year unofficially begins August 26. Since we homeschool year-round, the start date is more for fun traditions like making a “graduation cap” and having homeschool in our pajamas on the first day.
.
Right now we are having fun flipping through our homeschool co-op’s yearbook. I’m the yearbook advisor and had a lot of fun designing the cover and pages. I’m already excited to start on the 2019-2020 yearbook.
.
Emmett and I are also planning our field trips for next month!

Homeschool Career Capsule Photo Session by @MeganBreedenPhotography
  • Yesterday we went to the lake and watched fireworks after sunset. What adventures have you had this weekend?
  • A new species has been discovered in the wilds of Virginia by Emmett, the junior explorer on the expedition team... Not really. But with these toys, your kids can imagine all kinds of fun!
.
This is a special edition floppy-eared monster named Beezley. Emmett adopted him this past Easter from @lu_and_ed
.
Lu & Ed is one of my son’s all time favorite brands. Every time we visit the online store, he is looking at all the new monster photos and reading their mini-stories. Each one is unique and made from 100% recycled textile discards.
