Emmett’s Allergy Free Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Oatmeal for Kids with Allergies

and parents that want to eat yummy oatmeal too

Eating without milk, wheat, soy, egg whites, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame, is like having a menu with air pudding and a glass of water. After finding out Emmett has these food allergies, and what they mean, I decided to look for recipes I could adapt for him. He loves to cook. So naturally, when I started pulling out ingredients for his new breakfast he asked to help me.

Emmett wound up making the oatmeal all himself with a little direction from me. Now it’s a regular morning routine for us to make this for breakfast together. I am constantly looking for more recipes to try. If you know some good ones, please drop them in the comments below.

Everyone’s allergies are different. And some people don’t like Disney. It’s okay, we don’t judge. Just adapt this recipe to your family’s needs. Don’t forget to check all packaging ingredients. I have found Emmett’s allergies are usually listed in bold text. Still, I always check the fine print, just in case.

You’ll need 1 Walt Disney World Mug and a spoon.

For measuring, we use 1/2 cup, 1 tablespoon, and 1/2 tablespoon.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup of old-fashioned oats, 1/2 cup of apple sauce, 1 tablespoon of pancake syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a dash of salt, 2 heaping spoonfuls of brown sugar, and 1 cup of Lactaid.

Combine all the ingredients in your mug and stir. When your ingredients are mixed well, place it in the microwave for 1 minute. Remove the mug then stir your ingredients. Microwave for a 2nd minute. Remove the mug and stir again. Finally, microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Then stir one last time. Let it cool for about two minutes and eat your delicious allergy-free oatmeal.
